Quick Note

Well, I must say that I am proud of myself this morning. Instead of ANOTHER cup of coffee when I took the kids to school, I just TOOK THE KIDS TO SCHOOL. Then, when I got home, I debated on whether to fix myself some breakfast (aka: FAT STUFF), and instead made myself a delicious and filling banana smoothie. Must...lose...3...more...pounds...before...Friday!!
Jarrod's 20th reunion is this weekend, and although no one else will care WHAT I look like, it matters to me.
By the way, Jarrod gets home tonight from his latest trip for the State of NM. He was down in the SouthEast corner all weekend. I am ready to see his smiling face.

Good Reminders

My mom called this morning to tell me that she thought of me while listening to a sermon on TV. It was a "belated" Mother's Day message, and it reminded her of me because this lady was sending her last kid off to college, and was hit with the thought that, "Wow. I'll never have to wipe jelly off the wall again...I'll never have to pick up clothes for them off the floor again."
Yep, that's my life right now. I told her that I just wiped jelly off the counter yesterday. It was a great reminder to savor even "those" moments.
Last night my niece spent the night here with Anna. I let them have a pillow fight, make smoothies, etc. Of course, this was AFTER I was upstairs, because the stress of pillow fights is too much for my heart. I'm glad, now, that I let them do it. Those are the things childhood is made of.

Top 5 Reasons I am Excited to Stay Home

Wow. I am once again a stay-at-home Mom. Let me tell ya, I am sooooooooo not a working woman. Never have been. This morning I got up and thought, "Hmmm, what kind of projects can I tackle today, since I don't even have to THINK about going in to Dillard's tonight?" The funny thing is, I only worked nights/weekends, but, because I am soooooo not a working woman, my entire day would be stressful because I always had "work" on my mind, and how I would accomplish anything before I left.

TOP 5 REASONS THAT I AM EXCITED TO STAY HOME:

1. Dinner with my family-I've had very few meals with them in the past 6 months.
2. Healthy dinners with my family.-When Mom is gone, hot dogs and pizza reign Supreme.
3. Walks with Jarrod-it's something we've tried to do on my "off" nights.
4. Organizing the kids' backpacks, shoes, lunches, jackets, etc. BEFORE the next morning!
5. Relaxing on the patio after our walks.

Ok, there are so many more things I could list, but I know that everyone has things to do (including ME), so I will just say, to anyone who has been praying for us the past year, or even today, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. God has more than sustained us.
And, Jarrod is quite good at folding clothes and making dinner now!! Snaps for Jarrod! Thanks, Sweetie. :)

Stanley Steamer Strikes Again

Ok, today I am going to tackle the downstairs...shampooing the carpet. Jarrod is due home this evening, and I've come to the point that I can't stand to walk downstairs and see the nastiness of our carpet any longer!! For one thing, it's a rental house, so the carpet is "used" anyway. For another, I have three very active kids, and we are NOT the kind of family who takes their shoes off every time we come inside. We're just not. So, excuse the "ickiness" of this, but with a dog who has thrown up several times (thank you, kids, for feeding him who knows what!), a son who last week put a blanket over his head and ran face-first into the couch and busted his nose, bleeding profusely on the carpet, and kids whose shoes are always tracking in dirt, the time has come to TRY and get all of that out! Shall I post before and after pics? Hmmm, maybe just the "after" pics would be best.
Toodles!

Traveling the state of New Mexico

This past weekend started about a month of me traveling on the weekends installing new computer equipment for Motor Vehicle offices around the state of New Mexico. There is a team of 10-15 of us going all over the state. We travel on Friday, setup one office, then do another one or two on Saturday. We have Sunday off basically, but we have to stay in the area to be around for support on Monday when they roll out with the new equipment.

Here's where I have gone and am going.

May 2-5
526 mi – about 9 hours 58 mins of driving (actual miles were more like 700+ as there was a lot of extra driving in between)
Albuquerque to Santa Fe to Springer to Conchas Lake (housing at a friend's parents' lake house) to Logan to Tucumcari to Santa Rosa and back to Santa Fe.

May 9-12
577 mi – about 9 hours 58 mins of driving (again, probably going to be more miles than that)
Albuquerque to Santa Fe to Clayton to Roy to Wagon Mound to Raton and back to Santa Fe.
May 16-19
742 mi – about 14 hours 13 mins of driving
Albuquerque to Santa Fe back through Albuquerque to Eunice to Hobbs (only hotels around) to Jal back to Hobbs and then back to Santa Fe.

May 23-??
Total travel 1,474 mi – about 21 hours 41 mins
20th High school reunion in Newton, Kansas. Go Warriors!!

May 30-June 2
280 mi – about 5 hours 5 mins
Finally, I get some offices close to home. Santa Fe to Belen, NM to HOME (to spend the night) to Los Lunas back Home then on back to Santa Fe.

Well, I don't know if you've added it all up, but I have. After the first week of June I will have driven nearly 4000 miles. That's around 60 hours! Whew! I don't think I'll be wanting to go anywhere anytime soon after that!

How about you? Where are you going this summer? Anywhere?

I did forget to mention that fortunately I am traveling in a state vehicle, not my own. Whew! Last week I used an undercover vehicle from the Tax Fraud Investigators Division. Cool! No 1-800-How's my driving stickers or government license plates! :) This week I get another vehicle from them. It's a Crown Victoria! Woo hoo! Floating across the state in a boat!

The Life of a Sports Mom

How is it that we as parents get sooooo excited to watch our kids play a sport? I NEVER, and I mean, NEVER played on any kind of organized team growing up (ok, in 6th grade I tried the diving team at school because I just loved to swim, but that only lasted a couple of weeks.). Even if I had wanted to play a sport, I would've been the kid that the coach dreaded trying to find a place for on the field. Yes, I am totally a musician...NOT an athlete. Does two years of ballet count?

However, all three of my kids started playing Upward Basketball/Cheerleading in April. I have two boys who are so good at ANY sport they try! "Snaps for Jarrod" for giving them such good genes!! It's so neat to watch them. Jacob, our 10 year old, is now about 5'5" or 5'6" and I am starting to see him as a teenager, playing High School B-ball, football, etc. He's so cool to watch. He's just so darn good!! Caleb is only 6, but when he gets on the court, he turns into this serious athlete. He's always been our "mountain climber", afraid of nothing!Anna is becoming THE cutest cheerleader! It's been so good for her to get out of her little shell! She's actually yelling the cheers!!
I am truly the proud mom who sat at the courts last Saturday from 8:45am-1:00pm, watching all of my kids play ball/cheer...come to think of it, I believe I was the only one loudly cheering on my kids' teams. That's about as "sporty" as I get.
